Lectures

Lectures will be delivered by leading scientists in the field of TME, young PIs as well as selected young scientists. The planned scientific program includes seven scientific sessions on Tumour heterogeneity and resistance to therapy, Innate Immunity, Adaptive Immunity, Vascular Biology, Cancer Metabolism and Inflammation, Cell-cell communication and new technologies to study the tumour microenvironment.  In this way the lectures will stimulate informed, expertise-based discussions on how to advance cancer research, and how to integrate several methods to address and validate models of relevant biological questions.

Workshops

Three workshops including a "meet-the expert" session where junior researchers can meet in small groups with expert speakers to discuss specific issues (e.g. experimental problems, analysis, interpretation of data etc.), or ask specific technical questions related to their own projects, a scientific writing & fellowship application session, where junior researchers will have the opportunity to hear how their applications are evaluated, tips on how to prepare these applications and how to improve their scientific writing skills. Finally, a career perspective in academia and industry session will promote the discussion with a panel of experts who will share their views in following different career paths.

    Selected Short Talks

We aim to foster presentation opportunities for junior researchers in the program including short talk sessions (12min oral presentations) selected from the poster abstracts to present their work.

    Free time & Networking activities

There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the meeting for participants and speakers to interact, for example, by organising lunches and/or dinners with the speakers, and in small groups by spending free time at the beach.

    Posters

Two poster sessions where all participants will be strongly encouraged to present their work in a relaxed setting, allowing interaction with peers and PIs.

    Important note:

As there is no printing facility near the conference venue, participants will have to bring their posters already printed in A0 (portrait) dimension.

The Workshop Secretariat will supply materials for the mounting of posters: Blu tack & Scotch tape.  Kindly note that screws, glue, pins etc are not allowed.
